As part of its academic reforms, the University of Calicut has launched its school system on Wednesday.
As per the new system, 35 similar departments would come under nine school of studies.
Kerala State Science and Technology principal secretary Dr. Suresh Das inaugurated the system.
Students should be empowered to face the consequences of climate change,global warming,water scarcity and research beyond subject knowledge is essential for this-he said.
There should be reformative change in the education scenario,by realizing the rapidly changing world.
The department is ready to conduct next Science Congress at the Calicut University-he said.
Vice Chancellor Dr.M.Abdul Salam presided over the function.
He underscored the need of a research university in the state for the progress and co-ordination of all the research activities.
School system will pave the way for new changes in the academics.
When students come out of the shell of regional,religious,and caste-based system and dedicate themselves in research field ,new academic reforms will be realized-he said.
Quick solution for students grievances must be taken through management information system .New directors of the school should lead such initiatives-Vice Chancellor said.
