81.88 % polling in Kozhikode

The polling percentage in Kozhikode district is 81.88 in the assembly poll on Monday.
In the previous assembly election of 2011 also Kozhikode had similar heavy poll.(81.27).
Political parties are counting their possible outcome in the election.When both the UDF and the LDF share their confidence,the third alternative,BJP predicts historic performance in some constituencies,this time.
In the 2011 assembly election 10 out of 13 went in favor of the LDF.
Even if there was no wave this time,some undercurrents have worked in at least few constituencies in the district.

As weather prediction,there was no heavy rain on Monday in the district.However,a cloudy sky was there  since the very early morning.Voters,especially women reached at polling booths in the forenoon itself.

100 yearEhroli Pathumma, 100 years old women from Perambra constituency with the escort of BSF official coming out after casting her vote at Naduvannur Government Higher Secondary School on Monday.

There were 120 candidates in fray this time in Kozhikode district.Some independent candidates also got good mileage in the election.The number of first time voters in the district is 78432 .

There is one reserved constituency in the district,Balussery for SC/ST. The total number of voters in the district is 23,59731.Among this,1224,324 are women and 11,35407 are men.The number of pravasi voters in the district is 6913.

The district administration arranged 65 model polling stations in the district.

However,voters had to suffer lot due to lack of proper space for standing in the queue.(see cover picture)
