A tribute to SP Balasubrahmaniam

CNM pays heartfelt condolences.
Padum Nilai (Singing Moon) as popularly called by his countless fans,SP Balasubrahmaniam leaves back his immortal songs for generations.

Legendary play back singer  SP Balasubrahmaniam is no more.The news came this afternoon.His fans and well wishers all over the world were praying for his speed recovery when he tested Covid-19,positive.His health had improved a lot.And,his later tests turned negative.

He was admitted to hospital on August 5.

However,other complex health issues made things worse. He had been living  on a ventilator,later.
And,he breathed his last at MGM Hospital,Chennai at 1.04 pm.
He has sung over 40,000 songs in as many as 16 languages including Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi.  He is survived by his wife,a son and a daughter,both are playback singers.
When we listen to some of his top songs,we reach to the zenith of musical ecstasy. It gives us a feel of an unknown world,which soothes our souls.
What will happen when a light breeze with a rhythm touches a silent stream?
His songs such as Mannil Intha Kadhal in the movie,Keladi Knmani (Listen sweet heart) take us to an amazing world of romantic music.His effortless rendering and free flow of voice create a mesmerizing charm that can be played repeatedly.Listeners  fall in deep admiration to his singing style in songs like Pachamalarppovu…in the movie Kizhakku  Vasal 
In Malayalam song,Sankara Nadasareera also is one of his masterpiece songs.

In this hour of grief, my thoughts are with his family and admirers. Om Shanti.”-says Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his message on twitter.
“In the passing of music legend SP Balasubrahmanyam Indian music has lost one of its most melodious voices. Called ‘Paadum Nila’ or ‘Singing Moon’ by his countless fans, he was honoured with Padma Bhushan and many National Awards. Condolences to his family, friends and admirers.”-says –President Ramnath Kovind in his condolence message on twitter.
