All set ready for counting of votes

Preparations for the counting of votes in the local body elections have been completed in the district. The counting of votes will begin on Dec 16 at 8 am in 20 centers. The first result will be available from 8.15 am. The results of the panchayats with less wards will be released by 9 am.

The results of all the panchayats will be available by noon. About 1,500 officials will count the votes. Counting facilities are provided as a table for eight booths.

The counting of votes at all the polling stations in a ward is arranged in a single table. The number of counting tables set up in the counting hall will be calculated and the control units will be brought from the strongroom. The counting of votes will start from the first ward. If there are more than one booth in a ward, they will be counted on one table. In the three tier panchayats, each table will have one counting supervisor and two counting assistants and in the municipalities there will be one counting supervisor and one counting assistant. Technical staff has also been deployed to provide the vote count status to the trend app.

Admission to the counting center will be open to the Counting Officers, Returning Officers on duty, Assistant Returning Officers, Photographers and Videographers who have been issued State Election Commission passes, candidates and agents who have obtained the Counting Pass. The counting process will be completed in full compliance with the Covid norms.

Postal ballots are counted at the table of the returning officers. Only postal ballots received by 8 am on counting day will be considered. The latter will be sealed and kept unopened. As soon as the postal ballots are counted, the votes will be counted in the electronic voting machine.
There are 12 block panchayats, seven municipalities and one corporation each for counting. Kozhikode Corporation Counting Center is Nadakkavu Govt. Vocational Higher Secondary School. Ramanattukara Municipality-Farook College Auditorium. Mukkam Municipality – Neeleswaram Govt Higher Secondary School, Farook Municipality – Farook Municipal Town Hall, Koyilandy Municipality – Koyilandy Government Vocational Higher Secondary School, Payyoli Municipality – Technical School – Payyoli, Vadakara Municipality Koduvalli Municipality – Vadakara Municipality Higher Secondary School.
