Athirappally hydroelectric project is the only solution for Kerala’s power crisis, said minister for power M.M.Mani.
He was inaugurating a solar project of the district panchayath for 44 schools in Kozhikode district today.
Athirappally is the one and only project in the state, suitable to produce electricity. However, when speak about Athirappally; issue arises within the front and outside.
Can those people who speak against the project stay without fan and light at least one hour? the minister asked.
“Even the Athirappally water fall itself is the by-product of the electricity board. It didn’t come out from the earth.”
Athirappally got the beautiful waterfall as the result of the KSEB project-he said.
Hydroelectric projects are the only suitable option for Kerala. Here, we are producing only 30% of total energy consumption.
Other projects, rather than hydroelectric are expensive and challenging –the minister said.
