Kerala government’s stand on Athirappilly hydro electric project is expected to invite wide protest from environment activists.
The Aam Admi Party (AAP) has launched a symbolic strike warning further investment in the name of the project.
Chalakkudy River Protection Forum also came out against the project which would damage the environment of this area.
Meanwhile the KSEB opened an office and installed a transformer at the project site.
According to environment activists new construction project would spoil the flora and fauna pf this area.
It is a death bell to many endemic species.
Many scientists are warning that if the state government is ignoring the words of activists,it will have to pay a huge price because the waterfall at Athirappilly itself would lose its charm
thanks to the new dam construction.
