Be cautious on overdose of negative news-VC
Calicut University has launched its massive teenage girls counselling project on Thursday.
Vice Chancellor Dr.K.Muhammad Basheer inaugurated the program,Safety Quotient for Adolescents.
As per the project,one lakh school students will get guidance classes.
The VC cautioned girls against falling prey in the over doze of negative news by some media organizations.
The program is being supported by the University Grand Commission (UGC).
Some media channels are giving more time for telecasting crime news. Some social media platforms are also using such matters in an immature way-he said.
“How such kind of coverage would effect teen age girls,badly, must be discussed.”
When Denmark stopped suicide news coverage ,there has been huge decline in the number of suicides,there-he pointed out.
This project has been organized by the department of Women Studies.
Classes will be conducted in schools to make youngsters aware of social evils and negative concepts.
