Calicut University will celebrate “ Qaumi Ekta Week (National Integration Week) from 19 th to 25 th November

Calicut  University will celebrate “ Qaumi Ekta Week (National Integration Week) from 19 th to 25th November  in consonance with the national integration celebrations undertaken by the Youth Affairs Ministry of Government of India  aimed at promoting communal harmony and reaffirming  the age old traditions and faith in the values of tolerance, co-existence and brotherhood in a multi-cultural and multi-religious society.

The observation of the “Qaumi Ekta Week” is also envisaged to highlight the inherent strength and resilience of our nation to withstand actual and potential threats to the eclectic and secular fabric of our country, and nurture a spirit of communal harmony in its widest sense.
Accordingly, the Calicut University has decided at the meeting held  in connection with the conduct of Qaumi Ekta  under the chairmanship of the Registrar on October  31 to conduct the following  programmes in the University and affiliated colleges under the leadership of the respective NSS Units,  as envisaged and drawn up by the Government of India:
1. to conduct talks, debates, essay competions, Kavi Sammelan etc. with a spirit to promote national integration and communal harmony.

According to P.V. Valsarajan, N.S.S. Programme Co-Ordinator and Dean of Students’ Welfare, who is monitoring the programmes, the Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Khader Mangat has accorded sanction to conduct the following programmes under  “Qaumi Ekta Week (National Integration Week) on the date noted against each.

19th November 2015–   National Integration and Communal Harmony Day;20th November 2015–   Welfare of Minorities Day; 21st November 2015– Linguistic Minorities Day; 22nd November 2015–  Weaker Sections Day; 23rd November 2015– Cultural Unity Day; 24th November 2015–   Women’s Day and 25th November 2015–   Conservation Day and Flag Day.P. V. Valsarajan has also informed that  the National Integration Pledge will also be taken on November 2015 19 at 11. am in all Colleges and on the University campus  and there would be a rally on November 25 at 4.00 pm to be undertaken by the teachers, students and staff to propagate the message of communal harmony. He has also stated that

  NSS Programme Officers of the campus,  Dr. A.B. Moideen Kutty and Dr. Harilal will organize the  programmes on the campus as per the directions from the NSS / Ministry of youth affairs, as resolved in the meeting.
