Chief Minister of Kerala Pinaray Vijayan opens Kerala Literature Festival -2020 at Kozhikode beach on Jan 16 . His Excellency Thani Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, UAE Minister of Climate Change and Environment was the chief guest in the inaugural ceremony.
Beginning with the welcome address by the facilitator Ravi DC, the inaugural ceremony was graced by the presence of the Chief Minister of Kerala Pinaray Vijayan, His Excellency Thani Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, UAE Minister of Climate Change and Environment, Pradeep Kumar MLA, the chair of the session, K. Satchidanadan, Director of the festival and many more.
Further, Pradeep Kuram MLA, the president of the session shared his views about KLF and how it is different from all of the other Literature Festivals. The director of the festival, K. Satchidanadan also talked about what’s different this year in Kerala Literature Festival and how this year Spain is the invited Nation. The ceremony was inaugurated by lightning of the lamp, in accordance with the Indian culture and tradition.
The Chief Minister had many good things to talk about the prosperity of this grand festival and how it is not only about Literature but about social, political and economical conditions of the world. He further added that there is a sense of humility through dialogue. He said the KLF’s role in it was huge. He went on to add that the idea of plundering natural resources belongs to capitalism and destroys even the land that provides the living space. He emphasized that the Kerala Literary
Festival is a great opportunity to discuss science, logic and progress as the foundation for the existence of art and literature is freedom, democracy and secularism. He quoted lyrics from Idasseri’s poem “Kudiyirak” and urged the literary community to respond where democracy is breached.
