Meenchantha declared as Containment Zone
The District Collector has declared Ward 38 (Meenchantha) in Kozhikode Corporation as a Containment Zone as part of Covid 19 prevention. Any taffic along public roads in this ward is prohibited. The ban does not apply to vehicles carrying essential supplies and emergency medicines. Those who are in the containment zone are not allowed to leave the house and those who do not, are not allowed to enter the ward except for emergency medical care and essentials. Establishments that sell food and essentials can only operate from 8 am to 5 pm. The ban is also applied to fish and meat markets. If the necessities are needed from outside the ward, one can seek help from the Ward Level Rapid Force who are appointed for the purpose. The Collector directed the supervision of the Corporation Health Department towards the residents of the ward.
A gathering of more than five people is strictly forbidden in public places or in commercial establishments at any time. The district police chief has been entrusted with the task of strengthening police surveillance. Travel through the ward has completely been banned from 7pm to 7am. Travelling during emergency medical requirements are allowed. The Collector stated that strict action would be taken against those who violate the instructions under sections 188,269 of the Indian Penal Code.
