Covid 19: Local bodies need to be vigilant; Home isolation will be prepared in case of spread of disease
Collector Samba Siva Rao said that the local bodies should be vigilant in view of the increasing number of cases of Covid 19 in the district. He was speaking at an online meeting with local government representatives to assess the Covid situation in the district.
After Onam, there was a huge increase in the number of Covid patients in the district. The number of patients is increasing day by day. Local bodies should take strict preventive measures to prevent the spread of the disease. Ensure that individuals and institutions follow the instructions of the Department of Health. People should be prevented from congregating in a way that could spread the disease. Businesses are required to display the Covid vigilance QR code for visitor registration. The district collector also said that the licenses of businesses that do not comply with the Covid protocol will be revoked.
Covid treatment facilities are fully equipped in the district. Covid treatment facilities are also available at Malabar Medical College and KMCT. Steps have been taken to introduce home isolation system as the number of patients increases. People can prescribe home isolation through the vigilance portal through RRTs led by local authorities.
Home isolation is provided only in the interest of the people. Home isolation should not be given to people over the age of 50 and those with other ailments. They must be transferred to FLTCs or Covid Hospital.
Home facilities should be ensured by the ward RRTs, the people’s representative and the medical officer. Room and toilet facilities are important.
The Collector also advised not to give home isolation to those who have symptoms. The comfort of other members of the household should also be considered when applying home isolation. There should be no contact between the sick person and other people in the house. People like the elderly, children and people with other illnesses who need more attention should be relocated from the place. The Collector also suggested that if people between the ages of 40 and 50 are in home isolation, then a pulse oximeter facility is mandatory. Family members should also be tested.
People with Covid symptoms may report the symptoms themselves. You can register yourself through the Covid 19 vigilance portal, set a password, log in and report the symptoms. This will give you an online quarantine release certificate, online prescription and referral services. Symptoms can also be reported by those who are home-isolated as Covid Positive.
Covid Tests are over 5,000 tests per day in the district. Kozhikode is the most tested district in the state. The goal is to diagnose and treat infected people and prevent the spread of the disease.
The role of local bodies in the fight against Covid is crucial. The collector also said that we must work together to save every life.
