CU Pareeksha Bhavan staff show the way;Favas says a ‘big thank you’
Favas is a differently-abled student of Malappuram Govt.College.He is studying for his sixth semester BA History degree course. The student turned up to the Pareeksha Bhavan of Calicut University (Office of the Controller of Examinations) with an application to get a permission to assign a scribe for writing his second semester BA supplementary examination, scheduled to be held on September 11.
Pareeksha Bhavan of Calicut University (Office of the Controller of Examinations) has been a crowded centre with hundreds of students with various needs. The three-storied building in the campus, however, doesn’t have a lift facility.
Favas’ efforts to climb the staircase, turned futile. He sat on a chair, helplessly for few minutes.
The student’s helplessness came to the notice of MK Pramod, the joint controller of examinations, who is hailing from Ponnani.
However, thanks to the compassionate interference of Pramod and his subordinates, the student’s whole concept of a bureaucratic office set up has been changed.
Assistant Registrar Parackal Philip, Greeshma ,an Assistant took initiatives to bring the BA section facilities from the third floor to the ground floor itself to avoid inconvenience to a needy student.
Favas got his application processed from the ground floor itself.
The student had written his previous examinations also with the help of a scribe.
The department didn’t stop their mercy there. They arranged a vehicle for the student to move towards the bus stop from where he could board a bus to his native place.
A bright smile lit-up on Favas’ face.He expressed a big thank you to the officials who extended a helping hand towards him amid their hectic duties.
To get a lift at this busy section has been a long time demand of students as well as the staff.
Unfinished lift work at Pareeksha Bhavan
Though the construction of a lift has begun months back,it has not yet been finished.
Staff of this section is suffering lot by climbing steps with huge bundle of answer-sheets,daily.For the differently- abled students, the state of the affair is more than a desperation.
Preeksha Bhavan staff at the university is breaking some concept of red-tapism,a common feature of many government and university departments by doing over time duties to release examination results,on time.
The department had released BA result, quite earlier, spending long odd hours in their office.
