For the Calicut Young Brahmins Association (CYBA),Diwali is not just a celebration.For the last many years they have been making this celebration more meaningful.Their mission is to help the needy among their community.One of the main fund-raising is the selling of Diwali sweets at Tali Brahmana Samooha Matam.They are selling around ten variety of sweets , especially made for Diwali. Badusha, Mysore pak, Jagri,Pinapple Barfi, Orange Barfi, Pistha Peda, Ladoo etc. are some of their sweets ready to sale for the Diwali days.
They starts their business two days before the Diwali celebration and continue until the sweets are sold on Diwali day.
A pack of half kilogram sweets cost Rs.120.It is a mix of these variety items.There are 1 kg pack also for sale.
“The sweets are purely home made and without using any unwanted colour .”-says test11 Ram,president of CYBA.
He says that the income generated through this festival sale is dedicated to social service.Presently the association is looking after around 36 person’s medical aid.Apart from this he adds that underprivileged children among their community is supported with education aid.uring Onam and Vishu festivals also CYBA engage in similar charity work by selling Palada Payasam
Blood donation army and palliative care are the other social service areas of CYBA
