Dogs sterilization camp
The Calicut Corporation has begun a project to curb the menace of stray dogs, without killing them. As per the project, the Animal Husbandry department helps the corporation by sterilizing stray dogs through a key hole surgery.
The surgery has begun at Poolakakdavu in Kozhikode.
The five day sterilization camp is being organised with the support of Veterinary University ‘s Raksha scheme.
A five member team who had trained in Animal Birth Control (ABC) project would help bringing stray dogs at the sterilization camps.
A mobile operation theatre and a team of doctors have been arranged at Poolakkadavu for the surgery.
Corporation Mayor Prof.A.K.Premajam said the corporation would launch a permanent sterilization system at Pollakkadavu in one hectare land.
Residents Associations, ward councilors,and building owners can submit applications for stray dog menace .
Once the application are received, the experts would catch dogs and bring for sterilization.
