The Student Federation of India (SFI) has asked the Calicut University authorities to take urgent steps to ensure safety and security of girl students on the University campus.
A resolution to this effect was adopted at the special convention of the Malappuram district of the SFI held at the CPI (M) district committee office hall at Malappuram on Saturday.
The convention urged the University to look into the various problems being faced by the girl students on the campus immediately and to ensure a free and safe environment for them to carry out their studies and research, lest the Federation would launch agitations in support of their demands.
SFI state President V. P. Sanu inaugurated the convention. Malappuram district President P. Shebeer presided. District Secretary K.Syam Prasd presented the report. N.M. Shefiq, A. Jyothish, C.M. Sibla and P. Sumith spoke. K.Syam Prakash welcomed the gathering and A. Jyothish proposed a vote of thanks.
