Govt ignores candidates’ plea;move to conduct KEAM on July 16

Kerala government ignored continuous plea from candidates and parents  to postpone Keam in the wake of Covid-19 cluster spread and the increased number of Covid-19 patients.

The  state reported highest number of  positive cases on July 14.

Total,608 positive cases are reported in Kerala.Out of these,396 cases are through contacts.

Many students are reportedly losing their chance to attend the exam as the Covid-19 situation reportedly reached in serious condition.Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan also described the situation ,” more serious”.

Hundreds of thousands of students and parents  initiated online campaigns with hashtag#postpone keam.

The state government ignored students’ online campaign, too.

Higher Education Minister KT Jaleel and Commissioner of Entrance Examination (CEE) didn’t give ear to engineering aspirants throughout the state and outside the state.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had earlier said he would discuss the matter with CEE.

In the previous day’s press meet,the CM said the test would be conducted as per the schedule and special arrangements would be made to students hailing from hot spots.

Roughly,1 lakh students are expected to take the test. However,this time,many students are unable to attend the test as many of them are in red zones

Candidates who are in triple lock-down area in remote villages  won’t be able to attend the test.

Covid-19 situation in Kerala is not the same as the time of SSLC and Plus Two exams. Still,the Commissioner of  Entrance Examinations (CEE) is adamant to conduct the KEAM exam on July 16.
The CEE released KEAM Admit Cards amidst corona virus spread in Kerala has reached at the verge of social spread.

KEAM is the State level Engineering, Architecture, Pharmacy Entrance Examination for which around 1 lakh  students are expected to appear this time.

Minister for Higher Education reiterates his stand to conduct the exam as per the schedule,ignoring parents’ concern.
