High alert;sea tides recede at Kappad

  • High alert again for next 48 hours. Tourists and fisher men should keep off from the shore at Kappad,said officials.Police and fisheries department officials are monitoring the situation. Children are advised not to play on the beach.


The department of meteorology has released another warning to the district authorities to become extra or high alert since the Ochki cyclone turned intense at various places.
Meanwhile, tides go down few kilometers off-shore at Kappad beach,a tourism spot in Kozhikode district.This is said to be an unusual phenomena.
As per the direction of the Deputy Collector,Koyilandi Thahsildar N.Ramla,Additional tahsiladar C.Preman are monitoring the situation at the beach by camping there.
Fishermen are not allowed to go to the sea.Beach -goers are also not allowed to enter on the beach.

It is possible that the withdrawn tides will return to the shore with intense power ,between 4 pm and 6 pm today,said D.M.Krishnan Kutty,Deputy Collector,Kozhikode.

No casualties have been reported so far. All the fishing boats have been returned,safely.
