The Information and Broadcasting Ministry has temporary banned two Malayalm TV channels Asianet News and Media One for their reporting Delhi riot.
According to the ministry officials ,these two channels have been banned for 48 hours for their alleged biased coverage on Delhi violence.
The authority alleged biased reporting and incitement or encouragement for violence.And,was against the maintenance of law and order or which promote anti-national attitudes.
And,both these channels promoted religious communal attitudes which is against Cable Television Networks Rules 1994,said the officials.
The ban is effective from 7.30 pm March 6 to 7.30 pm March 8.
The action was taken on the basis of Cable Television Regulation Networks (Act) 1995.
Viewers get the following message while they search these channels on TV:
‘ This channel is temporary unavailable from broadcast due to technical failure.Service will resume shortly’
Asianet news website also has stopped updations.
Meanwhile, Kerala Union of Working Journalistss (KUWJ) will organize a protest march and meeting in Kozhikode on Saturday against the media ban of the central government,said the district committee.
