The Muslim festival of Eid-Al-Adha (festival of the sacrifice) is being celebrated on September 24.
During Eid Al-Adha, Muslims sacrifice an animal (usually a goat or cow) as an offering to God as the Prophet Abraham once did. The meat is then distributed among themselves, family, friends and people in need.
Believers in the city were busy on the eve of the Bakrid by collecting things.
Special prayers have been arranged at various parts of the city.
Calicut beach is the main prayer ground.
