IIM Kozhikode to host International Conclave on ‘Globalising Indian Thought’ during January 16-18, 2020

Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIM Kozhikode) is hosting an International Conclave on ‘Globalising Indian Thought’ from January 16-18, 2020. The three-day Academic conclave to be inaugurated by   Prime Minister, Narendra Modi through video conferencing, will witness representations from renowned academicians, public figures and the presentation of more than 100 world-class research papers.

IIM Kozhikode embraced Globalizing Indian Thought as its institutional mission a decade ago. Over the years, the Institute has fostered and nurtured various elements of Indian ethos in management and leadership. Conversations on globalization have for a long time been synonymous with westernization. Indian thought does have a lot to contribute to such conversations. The churning of ideas with the amalgamation of wisdom and creativity will be an opportunity for inquisitive thinkers to look at the Indian thought with a fresh perspective and a renewed mind. Indian leaders thrive on being known as realized beings by embracing the spirit of sustainability and reverence for life.

Speaking on the eve of the pre-conference workshop, on 15th January, Prof. Debashis Chatterjee, Director, IIM Kozhikode, shared “The GIT conclave is the perfect platform for the congregation of academics discussing India’s contribution to the world and how India as a country can re-imagine itself and re-shape worldviews in the current context. This event is poised to be a festival of ideas and a creative synthesis of many strands of thoughts from Indian civilization.” He also added that “the keynote and plenary talks, in addition to the panel discussions and paper presentations about Globalizing Indian Thought (GIT) will open avenues for deeper understanding of the concept and will advance meaningful probe into its nuances.”

On the opening day of the event, the Hon’ble Prime Minister, following his inaugural address  through Video Conferencing, will also unveil and dedicate a full-size statue of Swami Vivekananda, in front of the MDC Complex of IIMK. This will be followed by a keynote address from the spiritual leader Shri Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. Subsequently, Member of Parliament and President of Indian Council for Cultural Research Dr. Vinay Sahasrabuddhe will be addressing the delegates. The day’s events will wrap up with the musical performance by the Grammy Award Winner Pandit Viswa Mohan Bhat.

The thematic discussion moving on to the next day on 17th January, will feature panelists Prof. Alok Chaturvedi (Purdue Indiana University), Dr. Vijay Chauthaiwale (Scientist) moderated by Shri Prabhu Chawla, Editorial Director of the New Indian Express Group.
