Radiation Safety Officer Niyas Puzhakkal explained about Linac.

With the installation of Linac, the time taken for radiation treatment will be reduced from the current 8-15 minutes to 2 minutes. The Linac has been installed with an online monitoring system called dolphin dosimetry to ensure that the treatment received is perfect. This is the first time that a hospital in India is installing this facility, claimed the hospital authorities.

Other treatment facilities available in the Linac include Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT), Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT), Stereotactic Radio Surgery (SRS), Stereotactic Radiation Therapy (SRT) Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy (SBRT), Total Skin Electron Therapy (TSET), and so on.

During the progress of radiation treatment, the Linac assesses the progress and makes sure that the treatment concentrates on the affected part in order to ensure that the other parts of the body are not affected making it extremely safe for patients.
