INSTALLATION OF SOLAR PANEL COMMENCED AT KOZHIKODE RAILWAY STATION
In order to tap the solar power for energy generation, installation of photo- voltaic panels for 100 kWp solar power plant has been commenced at the Kozhikode Railway station. The project is conceived by the Railway Energy Management Company Limited (REMCL) which is exploring the potential of various renewable energy resources for energy generation.
Railway Energy Management Company Limited is a joint venture (JV) company of the Ministry of Railways with the equity participation in the ratio of Indian Railways ( 49%) & RITES Limited -earlier known as Rail India Technical and Economic Service (51%) .The company has been formed to tap the business potential in the energy sector, including green energy, power trading etc. by setting up of renewable energy, wind power projects, with the technical resource base of both the organizations i.e. Ministry of Railways and RITES Limited.
From Southern Railway, REMCL, aim the generation of 4MWp form the roof top structures. A power purchase agreement has been signed, to execute rooftop solar generation project of 4MWp capacity including Operation & Maintenance of the system for a period of 25 years after commissioning of Project on Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer basis. As per the plan, in first phase, 390kWp grid Connected Roof Top Solar system will be installed at Railway Stations over Palakkad Division.
