An International Symposium on Spices and Aromatic Crops titled ‘Spices as flavours, fragrance and functional foods’ will be held from February 9-12, 2021. Experts from over 20 countries will participate in the symposium.
The virtual symposium jointly organized by Indian Society of Spices, Kozhikode, Kerala; Indian Society of Seed Spices, Ajmer, Rajasthan and Spices Board will feature lectures by experts in spice research and discuss various topics related to spices sector.
The virtual symposium will discuss the latest developments in the field of spices and aromatic crops. Unique ideas by scientists and experts will also be presented at the symposium. Researchers, development officers and industry officials can participate in the event. Researchers and students of various universities can register for the event before January 31. Over 400 delegates have already registered for the event and more are expected to register in the coming days, said Dr. Santhosh J Eapen, general chairman of the event and the president of Indian Society for Spices.
Various sessions including Global Production and trade scenario of spices, Spice Chemistry and functional food, Spice processing and value addition, cutting edge technologies for plant health and environment and food safety will be held as part of the event. Scientists and other experts from countries interested in global spice trade will participate in the symposium, said Dr. Prasath, general convenor of the event.
The event is being planned in collaboration with Indian Council of Agricultural Research, ICAR- Indian Institute of Spices Research, ICAR-National Research Centre on Seed Spices and Directorate of Arecanut and Spices Development. For more details and registration, visit http://www.symsac.in
