New Media team under the ministry of education–
Real time updates,live information centres,all in one centre,using the potential of social media sites… the 55th Kerala School Arts Festival marked a revolutionary change in the history of School Festivals thanks to the innovative and well-planned arrangements by IT@School.
Once the judges entered their mark at the venue,the scores are updated on the laptop arranged on the stage itself and there after on the server and published in no time across the globe.
‘During last year’s festival in Palakkad,it took at least three hours to get a result,but with the emergence of this system,we could provide results within three minutes.It is the minimum time in the history of the Kerala School Festival’-says K.P.Noufal,Executive Director,IT @ School.

We arranged a hi-tech facility by installing a heavy- duty Wi-Fi system ,i.e the capacity of users is 5,000 to 10,000 in one magnus point.This is also a first time implementation IT@ School without dealing with any private parties.The venues were connected with high speed network through optical fiber cables.
‘The first result we announced in 20 minutes,second in 6 minutes,all the remaining results we announced within three minutes’-he said.
As many as 80 members including the master trainers of IT @ School project took part round the clock to make this initiative, a success.
Apart fro all the live updates,live streaming facility was arranged at Mananchira and beach for the public to watch the event without losing its charm.All in one centre co-ordinated all the programs in one window.
This helped to watch monitor the programs going on in different venues under one roof .

“In the beginning many of my friends and colleagues warned that it was a first time experiment and we could run it in any district level festival as trial and then we could introduce in this mega event if it is successful.”
“However we took it as a challenge and we did it.”-said Noufal.

Noufal and team created a Whats App group to communicate within their team members.It helped them lot to sort out any difficulty during the task.Each and every individual could share their issues and make their efforts more fruitful through this instant access.
The team sent sms to the subscribers who want know the instant results in different categories like district wise,or state wise and all latest developments for the media etc.
A fifteen member New Media wing of Education minister,including nine photographers,two designers and two reporters worked for the updation of festival events.Syed Shiyaz co-ordinated the New Media wing.
“We used all the potential of social media like face book,google plus,twitter,pinterest,you tube,instagram,diaspora,Wikipedia updates etc.We received vibrant visitors including more than two lakh engagements.Most interestingly many of our visitors are foreigners.”-Shiyaz said.
‘Actually, people need not search for the latest information ,instead the information empowered the audience,instantly.’-Noufal said.
