IUML today filed a complaint to Election Commission of India against BJP president Amit
Shah for his speech in which he referred Wayanad and other areas of Kerala as
This is highly derogatory and the people if Kerala are highly offended by this
comparison. For gaining cheap publicity Amit Shah and other leaders of BJP are
using all kind of immoral and illegal activities.
This statement in particular is not only derogatory and demeaning for the people of
Kerala but is also used to polarise the vote of a particular community and to spread
hatred between the Hindus and Muslims.
IUML in its complaint requested to the ECI to initiate appropriate punitive
measures including disabling all his social media accounts for making such
baseless, malicious, irresponsible communal statements regarding IUML and the
people of Kerala thereby violating the model code of conduct. It was also prayed
that an FIR under section 153 A should be filed against Shah for his statements
intended to create hatred amongst the communities.
