Jailing of Dalit women,human rights violation: IUML

Recent controversial arrest and imprisonment of two Dalit women at Kuttimakkool near Thalassery in Kannur district is a violation of human rights,pointed out Indian Union Muslim League state committee meet.

“This incident shows the Dalit policy of the LDF government.
This incident was retaliation of a complaint forwarded by the women when they were assaulted at their home by calling their caste name by CPI (M) activists.

They were arrested and sent to jail on a false case framed on them that a party worker had been assaulted by them.”-the meet stated.

The incident took place on June 11.
The arrested were Akhila (30) and Anjana (25),daughters of K.Rajan,a local Congress worker.

They have been remanded in judicial custody for two weeks by the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court in Kannur.
Akhila took her 18 month year old child to the jail.
