Jamaat-e-Islami national Amir T.Arifali. has opposed the state government move to organize Women’s Wall (Vanitha Mathil).
“Don’t make renaissance a weapon for vote bank.”-he said while he was addressing SIO,GIO campus conference at Perinthalamanna.
Religion and faith were being misrepresented in the name of renaissance-he added.
It is a set back to left-sponsored Women’s Wall in the wake of sensitive issues like entry of women in all ages in Sabarimala temple.
Meanwhile,Communist Party of India (Marxist) is trying to woo religious minority groups to join in the Women’s Wall campaign.
Major political parties such as Congress and BJP are against the campaign,NSS is also keeps away from Women’s Wall.
Vellappally Natesan’s SNDP wing is the major caste-based organization that supports the Women’s Wall.
There are hectic moves to ensure participation of service organisations,activists,NGOs,and teachers groups in the program which will mark a new wave in women’s rights in Kerala,according to the organizers.
The Wall ,scheduled to January 1,2019 is inviting mixed response from various circles. The government had to clarify its stand when some corners alleged that the government initiatives and funds for organizing such a jumbo demonstration in Kerala highways.
Many believe that it was unsuitable to organize such a program in Kerala.The state has been slowly trying to bounce back from the grip of a severe flood ,few months ago.
