Students hope PM Modi would intervene-comment
Lakhs of students are now in dilemma over the JEE/NEET examinations, scheduled for September,2020,amid serious Covid-19 threat writes Gautham Adiyodi
The final hope of these agitating students is PM Narendra Modi. Most of them still believe that the PM would not neglect their call for justice, especially because he is a firm believer in youth’s power.
BJP MP Subramanin Swamy has been continuously supporting the fighting students and convincing the government of the possible threat of conducting these crowded exams in September. Some world leaders, environmental and educational activists also raised their voice against the NTA move, endangering lakhs of students and their families’ health.
For the last two days,Covid-19 cases crossed 75 thousand in India. It is the highest number of infections in recent times.
Roughly, twenty five lakh students are expected to attend these two national level tests. And,the exam centers spread across major cities in India.
Transportation is one of the major concerns of the JEE/NEET aspirants because majority depend on public transportation.During the time of rapid rise in coronavirus cases and cluster formations throughout the country, public transportation is not advisable, according to medical experts.
Students who opposed conducting these tests in September had approached the Supreme Court,However, the court dismissed their plea and told the petitioners that the court was not going to interfere in NTA’s move to conduct the exams.
A massive campaign is still going on via Social Media platforms to convince the authorities against the adamant move to conduct the national level tests, Most trending tweets for the last few weeks are JEE/NEET related hashtags.Major students organizations also supported the # postpone JEE/NEET campaign.
Congress party also joined the campaign,in support of agitating students.Protest marches are organized at various cities across India against the government move to hold the test in a pandemic situation.
Shasi Tharoor MP tweeted:

#SpeakUpForStudentSafety is a newly emerging virtual campaign to support anxious JEE/NEET aspirants. The party would file a review petition in the Supreme Court,in this matter, said party sources.
Meanwhile, the National Testing Agency, the authority under the Education Ministry in charge of these tests have come out, justifying its decision to go ahead with the tests.
NTA claimed a great number of students downloaded their admit cards within the first few days of its release. The agency believes that it is a sign of support. However, some agitating students damned the stand, saying:
“Downloading doesn’t mean their approval. They just wanted to know their exam centers.”-one of the #postpone JEE/NEET supporters tweeted.
Its all about students’ lives.Government should not abide by the pressures from some vested interests.
Consider lakhs of ordinary and middle class JEE/NEET aspirants and their parents.India would definitely support their genuine plea and the whole India would speak out for their justice.
and,the case is now in the people’s court. Every sensible government can read the sentiments of people.
It’s not a business matter of any institutions.
It’s a human rights issue. So,no government can impose exams during a highly infectious pandemic situation. So,the government must postpone JEE/NEET and all exams during Covid-19.
In a latest development, seven opposition Chief Ministers opposed the NTA move to conduct the tests and showed their solidarity to protesting students.
