Jishnu’s sister begins hunger strike

Normal life has been hit  by a dawn to dusk hartal ,called by  the Congress and BJP. Jishnu’s sister Avishna has begun hunger strike at home ,Valayam.

The hartal was in protest against the alleged  police atrocity in Thiruvananthapuram against Jishnu Pranoy’s mother Mahija and her relatives on Wednesday.

Jishnu Pranoy ,an engineering student  at Pampady Nehru College committed suicide in mysterious circumstances. The relatives and friends of Jishnu alleged conspiracy behind his death.

Police investigation revealed that Jishnu had been harassed by the authorities.


Jishnu’s mother and relatives led a protest march in front of  the DGP office asking the state government to imprison the main accused in the case , Krishnadas and other culprits .

Action Committee leaders and Jishnu’s relatives had alleged a foul play on the part of the government for trying to save the culprit.

Police action has been widely criticised by social activists in Kerala. Social media posts and trolls are mounting against police action.

‘Shame on Pinarayi’ was the hash tag leading  on social media like Facebook and WhatsApp , condemning  Pinarayi government’s police action.

Leftists and even some CPI (M) sympathisers are also very desperate on the developments in this issue. Kozhikode district CPI (M) secretary P.Mohanan didn’t justify the police action.

Meanwhile, some of the CPI(M) activists alleged the BJP and the Congress for politicising the issue.

Hartal hit normal life


Normal life has been hit  in the hartal , called by the opposition parties ;UDF and BJP. The UDF workers organized a demonstration in the city.


Police used water canon against the Bharatheeya Janatha Yuvamorcha protesters who took out  a march to Kozhikode Police Commissioner office .
