Journalist Football League :Kozhikode B team and Malappuram enter semi

Indian top striker I.M.Vijayan inaugurated the Journalist Football League (JFL) at the Corporation stadium in Kozhikode on Friday .

Malappuram defeated Ernakulam in the post inagural match held in the evening. Malappuram’s Shafeeque (11) scored the first two goals in the first half of the game.

Malappuram grabbed  one more goal in the second half and ensured its semi final birth (3-0).

Malappuram had defeated Wayand in the morning match and Kozhikode B team had a walkover since its rival team Kottayam was absent.Meanwhile, Kozhikode B team crushed Idukki (1-0) in another game and ensured its semi- final entry..

In another  match in the morning,Ernakulam defeated Wayanad (3-0).

Vijayan has said that Kozhikode tops as the suitable place for the growth of football.

“The people of Calicut know what foot ball is.They always encourage best team “-he  said amid a loud clap.

In his brief speech Vijayan reminisced  his football memories in the soil of  the Zamorins.

Press Club president Kamal Varadoor in his introductory speech said that usually journalists write football and narrate the game through various media.Now,they have got a golden chance to prove they can also play this classic game-Kamal ,who is also the chairperson  of the  JFL, said.

“These are such  beautiful moments for those who love this game.Again ,after a long interval ,the Kozhikode stadium is excited with football.It is the first step to regain the lost nobility of Calicut’s football . “-Kamal said.

Kozhikode Corporation Mayor Prof.A.K.Premajam presided over the inagural function.

She said that she always proud to say that her favorite game was nothing but the  football.

District Sports Council President K.J.Mathayi,Councilor P.Kishan Chand, Kerala Union of Working Journalists leaders K. Premanath,Padmanabhan,were among the speakers.

Aspiring young players, belong to various football academies performed a football show to add vigor to the three day’s championship.

Thiruvananthapuram will meet Kannur in the first match to be held on Saturday morning followed by an exciting game between Kozhikode Team A and Public Relations Department (PRD).

In the afternoon session PRD will meet Thrissur.,followed by two matches between Palakkad and Thiruvananthapuram and Thrissur and Kozhikdoe A.

There will be a Women’s football match on Saturday AT 5 PM between FC Thiruvalla and Sports FC Kozhikode.
