K.Muraleedharan MP,representing Vatakara Loksabha constituency met Railway minister Piyush Goyal and submitted memorandum for the development and modernisation of Vatakara.Koyilandy and Thalassery railway stations. He also demanded Thalassery Mysore railway line.
Muraleedharan ponited out Thalassery railway station built during the British reign is located near by Kannur International Airport.The station has good potential for growth. Fifty acres of
railway property is remain unused.
The station is being used by around 12,000 people ,earns a revenue of seven lakhs on daily basis.
The development of Vatakara Railway station,already included in Adarsh project is moving in snail’s speed. Reservation facility also is not beneficial for the passengers.
Koyilandy Railway station platform construction is getting delayed. This creates trouble to passengers.
Thalassery Mananthavadi Mysore eco_friendly railway line should be built ,the MP demanded in another memorandum.
Muraleedharan submitted the project report and estimate prepared by Konkan Railway to the minister.
Piyush Goyal said the ministry would support the project thanks to the fast access to Mysore.
However,the land acquisition expenses should be met by the state government
