Kerala Literature Festival begins

Kerala Literature Festival (KLF) has begun at Kozhikode beach. Celebrity writers from India and abroad participate in the four-day long carnival of letters. Booker- prize winning Arundhti Roy, journalist Sagarika Ghose, novelist Anand, Kendra Sahithya Academy secretary and poet K.Sachidanandan attended various sessions, in the opening day. Scholars, artists, historians, budding writers, students, and academicians get together in the fest, where dissent views, freedom of expression celebrate at a time of rising intolerance.

Sagarika Ghose has opined that journalism in India is facing severe threats from some vested groups. She said Indira Gandhi is a unique personality with a high-power determination and charisma.She was an enigma in the history of Indian womanhood and politics-she added while  interacting with Latha Nair at KLF on her book ‘Indira -India’s most powerful prime minister.’

DC Kizhakemury Foundation is organising the festival in association with various art and cultural organisations and government departments.

Film personalities took part in a debate on women’s role in Malayalam movies. Beena Paul,Revathy,Padmapriya,Deedi Damodaran,CS Chandrika spoke on the occasion.
