Korappuzha bridge is set ready to open by Feb 2021

Korappuzha bridge on Kozhikode- Kannur National Highway is expected to open by February 2021
The re-construction of Korappuzha bridge will be completed by February 2021,said officials.
The bridge was built during the British rule and the centuries old construction was in a dilapidated condition for long and the transportation was unsafe . Bumper to bumper traffic jam was a daily affair for long on both sides of the bridge. After a continuous call form the public, the government choked out a plan to reconstruct the bridge.
The construction is being carried out by the Kerala Road Fund Board and the National Highways Department at a cost of `26 crore under the KIFBI project. The new bridge has been widened with walkways on both sides. The bridge is 12 meters wide. There is a 7.5 meter carriageway for vehicles and a 1.5 meter wide footpath on both sides of the bridge. In addition, street lights are being installed.
The bridge has seven spans. Each span is 32 m long and 12 m wide. The bridge has a 150 meter long approach road on both sides. In addition, service roads are being constructed on both sides where required. The bridge has a total of eight pillars.
