Kuttyadi coconut farmers have a reason to smile
Kuttyadi Coconut Company’s Neera plant has a capacity of processing 8,000 liters of Neera. The high-tech plant is the realization of farmers’ collective in this region.
The estimate of the project is Rs.2.15 crore. The farmers’ collective has collected Rs 2.5 crore ,so far.
The technological know-how is provided by School of Communication and Management Studies (SCMS) .
Machineries were supplied by Equipment Agencies,Coimbatore.
Fourteen Neera collecting centres have been functional. All these 14 centres will start Neera parlours ,soon.
Once the plant is operational, the company is expected to open twenty Neera parlours,said a Coconut Board press release.
Kuttyadi Company is a collective of coconut farmers in this region. The objective of the group is to promote coconut products and protect coconut farmers.
There are 35,000 farmers in the forefront of the collective which has 275 coconut producing groups and 19 federations. The company was launched in 2013.
Neera cool drinks,Neera chakkarapani, Neera honey,Neera vinegar,Neera chocolate and urukkenna originate from
Neera farmers’ company introduced two training camps at Maruthonkara and Kundu Thottu and Ayancheri.
Four hundred technicians from 14 federations were trained so by spending Rs.25 lakh.
The company has already launched Necto brand coconut oil.
