Kerala Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ)expressed their protest in the CPI(M) workers’ alleged attack against two television journalists while reporting CPI (M) leader Pinarayi Vijayan’s public meeting at Muthalakkulam in Kozhikode on Monday.
Calicut Press Club president Kamal Varadoor and secretary N. Rajesh said in a joint statement that the action was against free and fearless journalism.
Asianet reporter Anumod and cameraman Aravind were beaten by the party men,says the statement.
Meanwhile CPIM district secretary P. Mohanan expressed his party’s apology on the issue.He said that his party was not against press freedom and he would examine the issue in detail and strict actions would be taken against party workers involved in the attack.
Journalists took out a protest march ,later. Calicut Press Club president Kamal Varadoor and secretary N.Rajesh led the protest march.
