Landslip at Chinthavalappu;two workers die;one rescued

Two migrant workers  have been killed in a landslide at a construction site at Chinthavalappu in Kozhikode,today. Fire and Rescue team rescued another worker after long hours’ rescue operation. The incident occurred around 4 pm.

The deceased are  identified as Kismath and Jabbar,both are hailing from Bihar. The survivor is identified  as Muhammaed Mukthar.He is also a native of Bihar.

Two migrant workers,Muhammaed Rafeeque(30),Muhammed Safeer (26) from Bihar have been admitted to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital, with minor injuries.

Fire and Recue personnel from Beach,Vellimadukunnu and Meenchantha took part in the four hour long rescue operation.

The basement of the building was under construction. Land was taken at a depth of eight to nine feet.

The unprecedented landslip ,occurred due to the heavy rain in yesterday night.

The workers were engaged in a concrete work of the  second floor of the construction.

The near by building is also in unsafe mode,due to the land piling and filling,said safety officials.

The officials who took part in the rescue operation are :

Assistant Divisional Fire Officer T.Rajeesh,Beach Fire Station Officer S.Varun,Meenchantha Station Officer T.Anilkumar, Vellimadukunnu Assistant Station Officer Sunil Kumar.
