The Left Democratic Front ( LDF) won 11 out of 13 seats in Kozhikode district. Meanwhile,Parackal Abdulla of the Muslim League defeated CPI(M)’s K.K.Lathika in Kuttyadi constituency by a margin of 1157 votes. It was one of the prestigious seats where tight contest has been identified since the very beginning of the election campaign. K.K.Lathika is the wife of CPI(M) Kozhikode district secretary P. Mohanan .The UDF had got three seats in the 2011 assembly polls.
Dr.M.K.Muneer and Parackal Abdulla of the Muslim League maintained the pride of the United Democratic Front (UDF) in the district.Congress has not been able to secure a single seat in the last two assembly elections.
K.Praveen Kumar of the Congress fought well at Nadapuram to crack the seat from the LDF. However,he lost for around 4759 votes.
Youth Congress leader T.Sidhique also posed a tough fight at Kunnamangalam against PTA Rahim,an LDF independent, he lost for a huge margin.
The margin is too low while comparing the old victory. Vijayan got 7546 votes in the 2011 assembly election.
A.K.Saseendran,LDF of Elathur constituency got a stunning victory for another term by grabbing a margin of 29057.This is the highest margin in the district.He defeated P.Kishan Chand of the UDF. He is the sitting M.L.A of Elathur.
A.Pradeep Kumar of the LDF retained his seat in Kozhikode north constituency.His margin, 27873 is the second huge margin in the district.He defeated UDF candidate P.M.Suresh Babu.
Former minster and sitting M.L.A of Kozhikode south constituency Dr.M.K.Muneer has been elected at a margin of 6327 votes.He defeated Prof.AP.Abdul Wahab of the INL.
Kozhikode corporation Mayor and industrialist V.K.C.Mammad Koya. He defeated Congress’s youth leader Adam Mulsi by a margin of 14363 votes.
LDF workers are celebrating the victory by organizing vehicle rallies,and processions with band and dance.A.Pradeep Kumar is being received with red garlands and flags .He traveled in an open vehicle to express his gratitude to voters.
