Accidental death: Rs 20 lakh each for two families
Labour and Excise Minister TP Ramakrishnan handed over the donation of Rs 20 lakhs provided by Uralungal Labour Contract Cooperative Society (ULCCS), at the ULCCS headquarters, Vadakara, to the families of the two labourers who had met with accidental death. The families of Nandu Prashanth, who died in a road accident, and MK Rajan, who died in an accident at work site received the financial assistance.
The Minister presented the annual cash awards given by the Society and the Cultural Center of the Society to the children of the workers and employees of the group who have achieved high marks in the SSLC examination. Eldo Sam Varghese, Nova, Amayrag K.P., Anugrah K. and Ananya M. came in the first position, Sayanendu and Athul Chandran in the second and Sreelal Sasi M.K. in the third.
Scholarships were also awarded to RC Roshan Raj and Atheena Vinayakumar, who have secured admission for MBBS in Kannur Government Medical College and in Northern State Medical University, Russia, respectively. The scholarship is instituted by the family of PK Balakrishnan, former president of the group, for the children of the group’s workers and employees pursuing higher education.
Remeshan Paleri, Chairman of the Society, presided over the function, which followed the COVID-19 protocols. Ananthan V.K., Vice Chairman, S. Shaju, Managing Director, Dr. T.P. Sethumadhavan, Director, UL Education and Shabu K.P., General Manager (Administration) also attended.
