Mobile towers and radiation

Mobile towers have not much radiation as the campaign from certain  corners, opined Telecom Enforcement Resource and Monitoring Department of Telecommunication Deputy Director General V. Raghunandan.

He was addressing an awareness class at the Collectorate Conference Hall in Kozhikode on Friday.

The radiation affects only within five meters’ distance. Most of the firms operate outside this distance-he said.

He added that the campaign that those who live nearby mobile towers are prone to radiation is baseless.

“No studies have proved that mobile towers caused tumors or cancers. In India ,we have strict rules regarding the installation of mobile towers.”-he said.

Comparatively, the radiation power is low than other countries-he said.

District Collector N.Prasanth inaugurated the awareness program.

Telecom Committee Member N. Janardhanan, Residents Association office bearers, Corporation councillors, Panchayath members, ante-mobile tower committer members attended the meeting.
