Its another step to make Kozhikode city, traffic jam free,accident free and ensure good mobility and parking.A meeting was held in this regard at Kozhikode guest house,today. Minister for transportation A.K.Saseendran chaired in the meeting. A.Pradeep Kumar M.L.A,Transport Commissioner K. Padmakumar,district collector U.V.Jose were among the participants.
Two mobility hubs have been proposed in the state. One is at Alappuzha and the other is in Kozhikode,said the minister.
Kozhikode is extremely looking for the facility because the city is overcrowded with vehicles and the mobility is being affected in most part of the city due to bumper to bumper traffic.
A master plan for the hub is prepared by NIT-Kozhikode.Roughly,20 acres of land is required for this project,that will connect KSRTC terminal,Canoli canal waterway, and monorail.
Apart from buses,3000 cars and 2,000 bikes will get parking facility,once the project is materialised. The Revenue department has been told to verify the legal status of lands to be acquired for the project.
The project is being funded by Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIFBI).A.Pradeep Kumar M.L.A will be the chairman and district collector UV Jose will act as the nodal officer of the working group.Regional Town planner Abdul Malik will be the convener of the group.
