National Games football:Mizoram wins gold
Mizoram has become the champions of the 35th National Games football match,winning gold medal in the final.Mizo team defeated Punjab (1-0). Imanuel Lathazuala won the decisive goal in the last moments (83 minute) of the match at Kozhikode corporation EMS stadium.
Imanuel was utilizing captain David Rinmuana’s corner kick chance into a stunning goal.
In the first half of the game was not much active and never created a ‘final’ mood.
Both Punjab and Mizoram lost many opportunities in the first half.
Punjab and Maharashtra team became second and third,winning silver and bronze medals respectively in the National Games men’s football match that concluded here tonight.
Football fans in Kozhikode was supporting Mizo team with bands and claps.There were small groups of fans who stood for Punjabi players.
District Collector C.A.Latha gave away prizes for the winners.
In the losers final Maharshtra defeated Goa (3-1)
Maharshtra won goal at 32 ,60 minute, 78 minutes.Goa won its single goal at 45th minute.
