The 14 th National Theatre Festival has begun in Kozhikode.Minister for Information-Public Relations and Culture K.C.Joseph inaugurated the six day event at Tagore Hall. Minister Dr..M.K.Muneer presided over the function. Prominent theatre personality Kavalam Narayaana Panickier delivered the key note address. District collector C.A.Latha introduced the fete. PRD Director Mini Antony IAS welcomed the gathering.Corporation Mayor Prof.A.K.Premajam,PRD Additional Director C.Ramesh Kumar,district panchayath president Kanathil Jameela spoke on the occasion.
Bengali play,The Long March (see photo ) staged after the inaugural session.Malayalam play Daivam veendum thettidharikkunnu,Jalam,Moments just before death were other highlights of today.
The License,a Hindi play will be staged at Tagore Hall at 6pm tomorrow followed by Malayalam play, Chi-me-ra directed by Hazim Amaravila.
Tagore Hall was packed with drama loving people of Calicut.
The Long March play is based on the historical difference between the two sects of that divide our planet ,the haves (Rabbits) and the have not’s (Tortoises)As the tradition goes,a race is run among the two sects of inhabitants.One rabbit and one tortoise is chosen for the race.
