New building for CU DDE department
Education Minister P.K.Abdu Rabb will inaugurate the new building complex for Calicut University’s Department of Distance Education on 16 th July.
The program will be held at EMS seminar complex.
Vice Chancellor M.Abdul Salam will preside over the function.
The five-storied building has 21,200 square feet. The construction cost is Rs.305 lakh ,utilizing the state fund (2013-14,2014-15),said a university press release.
The university has more than 1,80000 distance education students.
The administrative block of the department,and store room will function at the new building.
Garage,students lounge,confidential room,faculty rooms,computer rooms,director’s office and seminar hall will function,here.
P.C Rasheed and Associates is the architects of this building.
Royal Constructions,Aluva did the construction works under the supervision of the university engineering departments engineers Sivadasan,Mohandas, and University Engineer K.K.Abdul Nasar.
The second phase of building another five storied building in 30,200 square feet will be constructed for the Distance Department examination.
