World renowned,Pulitzer prize winning photojournalist Nick Ut will arrive in Kozhikode on March 17.He will visit Beypore and Vatakara and attend a couple of programs in the city.He will attend a meet the press program at Calicut press Club.
Nick’s photo of a naked,running girl,a victim of Vietnam war made him popular through out the world.
Ut won the Pulitzer for it in 1973 , the youngest photographer ever to do so.He was barely 21 at that time. He worked for one of the world’s top news agency,Associated Press.
Ut is widely celebrated as the ‘Napalm Girl’ photographer, for taking the iconic image of the 9-year-girl after an aerial napalm bombing in Vietnam in 1972.Eventually,his photograph led to the end of the Vietnam war.
The picture, of a naked Phuc running down the highway, became one of the most famous photographs to come out of the Vietnam War
Nick’s photo exhibition is also being arranged at Kozhikode Lalita Kala Academy Art Gallery. A public reception is arranged in the evening at Town Hall on the same day,by the district administration and Calicut Corporation.
On March 18,he will have few programs at Vatakara. He will attend a function at Iringal Craft village.
Oscar award winner Rasul Pookkutty,Los Angeles Times Photo editor Raul Roe are accompanying Ut.
He will visit Wayanad on March 18 and leave back to Thiruvananthapuram on March 19.
Nick Ut is on a visit in Kerala as part of Information and Public Relations Department’s invitation.
