The state government in Kerala has decided to honor government doctors in Kozhikode with salary increment and gold medal.This is a token of their meritorious service during the deadly Nipah outbreak and thereafter.
These doctors dedicated to treat and control the spreading of the deadly virus,risking their lives.
Four assistant professors,19 staff nurses,seven nursing assistants,17 cleaning staff,four hospital attendants,two health inspectors,four security staff ,one plumber and four lab technicians are included in the 61 member list.
Apart from this,12 junior residents,three senior residents will be gifted with gold medal .
An award for best nurse in government hospital will be instituted in the memory of nurse ,Lini,who contracted Nipah virus during her duty at Perambra Taluk Hopsital in Kozhikode.
