‘Party or church,we stand for women’s right’ -KT Kunhikkannan

CPI(M) leader and left activist KT Kunhikkannan said today that all progressive activists are standing in solidarity with women’s rights.While talking to media at Calicut Press Club,he said,

“Party or Church,it doesn’t matter. Culprits should be punished.Victims’ justice is important.We stand for women’s rights.”-he said.

He was replying to a question regarding the stand of the women rights march organizers in the reports of  sexual harassment cases against a woman party worker and a nun in Kerala.

He was accompanied by  women activists and leftist thinkers Kanathil Jameela,Sujatha Koodathinkal,Soudhamini,Haridas.E,Shibi.
A group of progressive women’s organizations will take out a peace conversation march from Kerala to North India,raising the need to protect women’s rights.

A journey of women leaders and activists will begin in Kasargode on September 21 and tour major pockets in Malabar region.Later,the march will go to Karnataka,Maharashtra,Gujarat and Delhi.

Women’s march in Kerala will be headed  by social activist Shabnam Hashmi.

One of the marches will begin in Kashmir on September 20.It will cover Himachal Pradesh,Punjab,Uttarakhand,Haryana and end in Delhi.

Another march will begin from Kannyakaumari in Tamil Nadu and land in Delhi after covering Andhra Pradesh,Telangana,Odisha,Chattisgarh

Women’s Delhi march will begin in Delhi and visit Uttar Pradesh,Jharkhand,Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and revert to Delhi.

“The civil society is facing human rights problems. Lynching and suppressing of women’s rights through out the country are the result of  BJP’s rule.”-KT alleges.

While commenting on women’s issues,CPI(M) leader Kanathil Jameela said there is no value for women in Modi rule. Narendra Modi is talking on women’s liberation through Man-Ki-Baat and other programs. However,these are just talks. Actually, they want women to be confined to kitchen.Here,women denied justice.”-she said.

A fund , sponsored by United Nations to support the national women uprising  in India is being declined by the Modi government-KT alleged.The fund was sanctioned to top women activists.

He said it was another style of expressing intolerance.
