Police officer’s suicide:action committee demands steps against top cops

An action committee has been formed by local people to fight for the justice  into the suicide case  of Shaji A.P ,the civil police officer at Nadakkavu police station . The committee demanded steps against the police top officials who have suspended him.

The committee representatives raised this issue in a press meet on Monday.

Shaji committed suicide on 27 th November at his residence in Panangad.Shaji has been working for the last 17 years.He was in  charge of Stduents Police Cadet.He was suspended on the grounds of sharing an obscene video on a WhatsApp group in which many top police officers are members.

He had clarified that it was a mistake on his part and actually he wanted to share the video to some other officer as part of an investigation.

However, he was suspended on the same day the department received the complaint.

The action committee said it would take out a protest march in front of Kozhiokode City Police Commissioner office on December 5.Further marches will be organized in front of the legislative assembly,if no action has been taken.

C.Gangadharan, Nijesh, Aravind,P.K.Sunil, A.M.Premarajan attended the press meet.

The committee also blamed certain vernacular newspapers for publishing defamatory reports against Shaji.
