Poonthanam poems are still inspiring-M.P.Abdussamad Samadani
Today is Poonthanam day. Here is a report on Poonthanam poems-seminar held at Malayalam University, recently.M.P.Abdussamad Samadani inaugurates the seminar.
Poonthanam poems are not lullabies but awakening songs, said M.P Abdussamad Samadani.
He was speaking at a seminar, on Ponthanam poems-vision and spirituality organized by Thunjath Ezhuthachan Malayalam University, Tirur.
Poonthanam’s writings stood for dharma and reality. His poems are not lullabies.However; he has succeeded in giving sublimity and enjoyment throughout his poems.
His poems are still inspiring –Samadani said.“Poonthanam wrote against the political conspiracy, hatred and competitions as Shakespeare did.When we look into politics, we can see lot of shameful practices.
Poonthanam always looked towards the hearts of people. Spirituality belongs to the heart.Poonthanam recognized 400 years back that a poet should directly communicates to his readers.
Poonthanam served a vision through his Malayalam language.Poonthanam fought against the mixing up of religion and devotion.
He realized that social criticism is the essence of poems.”-Samadani said.
There is a fallacy that Bhakthi (devotion) is a weak element. However; Poonthanam showed us that devotion nurtures our inner strength-opined Malayalam University vice chancellor, K.Jaya Kumar.
He was presiding over the seminar. Poonthanam poems are timeless thanks to making a sensation on life-vision by writing at a time when language poems were considered as less-honored.
Poonthanam’s language is like crystal clear water that shows the extreme bottom-opined Asha Menon.
Poonthanam’s works uplift ordinary readers into cosmic level-he said.
There are no elements of materialistic desperation in Poonthanam’s poems-said Anil Vallathol.He never bowed his head in front of any lord-he added.
Poonthanam showed that scholarship is not the real criteria, by writing in plain Malayalam and he proved there is life beyond scholarly matters-said Dr.K.V.Dileep Kumar.Deshamangalam Ramakrishnan welcomed the gathering.
