As many as 2,00 girls in various schools at Thodannur Block Panchayath in Kozhikode will complete their Karate training program by March. In the wake of increasing crimes against women,girls are grabbing self-defense mechanism to face challenges in real life.
Girl students in six Upper Primary schools and 23 Highs schools under the jurisdiction of Thodannur Block Panchayath are the beneficiaries of this free karate training program.Participants include students from seventh standard to class 10.
The training module includes the defensive tricks of saving oneself from attacks and conquering the offenders.
Apart from martial techniques, the program adopt various exercises to enhance concentration power and confidence level of girls.
The program has been implemented at respective schools as well as some selected centers.One girl get three hours of training.
This program gives guidance to increase physical strength and extend facility to continue their karate practice even after the successful training.
A fund for Rs.1 lakh has been allotted for this initiative from the Block Development Fund.
Japanese Bod karate black belt Sensei C.N.Murali and his disciples BabuRaj, Muneer, Pankajakshan are the trainers of this program,
