Seminar on Global Climate Change held
A seminar on Global Climate Change was held under the auspices of the Science club of ICMS International College at Kottakkal.
Delivering the key-note address at the seminar, Anjali Sivan, Environmental specialist and research scholar on disaster management, has said that the world will be facing ecological catastrophe and ultimate break down on the very near future unless we act urgently and radically to change our trajectory. She has pointed out the need to prioritize the the protection of life on earth, taking active steps to achieve climate justice.
Action plans for the protection of environment should be realigned to save not only planet, but also for a balanced climatic condition, which will create an equitable world for all people.
Some say that the planet is sick and humans are the virus. It is undeniably we literally as a species have destroyed this beautiful planet at an alarming rate. Putting aside global warming and climate change, no species is as greedy as the human race, we take more than we need and leaves a trail of destruction, said Anjali.
The seminar was organized in the context of recent phenomenon of unusual climate change and natural disasters that have occurred in various parts of the state and elsewhere.
M.K.Pramodh, Principal, ICMS International College, Kottakkal and former Joint Controller of Examinations of the University of Calicut, was the moderator at the seminar. Anjana. C, first semester BA student welcomed the gathering and Hibuthur Rahman proposed a vote of thanks.
